Terms of Use
Last updated: 5 September 2026
This is the agreement between you and us about your use of the Matly app. Please read it before creating an account — by using the app you accept these terms.
1. Who you are contracting with
Matly is provided by Jonas Sitel, a private individual in Sweden ("we", "us") — one person, not a company. You can reach us at support.matly@gmail.com.
2. What Matly is
Matly suggests dinners for your week based on what you tell it about your household: how many you are, your budget, which store you shop at, what you like and what you avoid. The app assembles a weekly plan, estimates what it costs and builds a shopping list.
Prices shown in the app are estimates, based on approximate ingredient prices. They exist to help you plan, not to predict exactly what the checkout will say. Actual prices vary between stores, promotions and times.
The app may also send notifications: a reminder before a free trial ends, and a weekly reminder that a new weekly plan is ready. You choose whether to receive them when the app asks, and can turn them on or off at any time under Settings → Matly → Notifications on your iPhone.
3. Important notice about allergies and diet
Matly is not a medical device and does not replace your own checking. The app filters out recipes based on the allergens and diet you specify, but that filtering relies on our own labelling of the recipes and may be incomplete or contain errors. Ingredients, products and manufacturers' recipes also change over time.
You must always read the ingredient list on the packaging yourself before cooking and eating. If you have an allergy that can cause serious reactions, do not rely on the app as your only source. For medical questions about diet, allergy or intolerance, speak to a healthcare professional.
4. Account and age
You need an account to use Matly. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your credentials to yourself. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, contact us.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. To take out a subscription you must be at least 18, or have your guardian's consent to the purchase.
You can delete your account at any time under Inställningar in the app. See section 6 regarding an active subscription.
5. Subscription, free trial and payment
Matly requires a paid subscription. Before you confirm a purchase, the app shows which plan it is, what it costs and how long any free trial lasts.
- Payment is made to Apple, not to us. The charge is taken from the payment method linked to your Apple Account, and Apple's App Store terms govern the transaction.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Renewal is charged on the day the new period begins.
- After a free trial the subscription converts to a paid period at the price stated at purchase, unless you cancel before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you purchase the subscription earlier.
- If you have allowed notifications, the app sends a reminder the day before a free trial converts to a paid period. The reminder is a courtesy, not a condition: if you declined notifications, turned them off or uninstalled the app, no reminder arrives, and the responsibility for cancelling in time remains yours.
6. How to cancel
The subscription is managed by Apple, so cancellation happens there — Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or via Hantera prenumeration in Matly, which takes you to the same place. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period.
Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. It must be cancelled with Apple, or it will keep renewing.
7. Refunds and right of withdrawal
Because Apple is the seller, all refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms and procedures. You request a refund directly from Apple, for example via reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund a purchase made in the App Store.
As a consumer you have the right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days. For digital content delivered immediately, that right ends once delivery has begun with your consent. In practice, Apple's refund process applies here as well.
8. Price and plan changes
We may change prices and what the plans contain. A price increase never affects a period you have already paid for, and Apple will notify you before a renewal occurs at a new price. You can always cancel instead of accepting an increase.
9. How you may use Matly
You may use the app for your own private purposes. You may not:
- copy, resell, rent out or otherwise make the service available to others
- attempt to circumvent payment or technical restrictions in the app
- retrieve content automatically or at scale, for example to build a competing service
- use the app unlawfully or in a way that disrupts the service for others
10. Content and intellectual property
The app, the recipes, the texts and the underlying software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You receive a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for as long as your subscription is active. Recipe photography comes from Unsplash and is used under their licence.
11. Availability and liability
We do what we can to keep the app working, but we cannot guarantee that it is always available or entirely free of errors. We may need to pause the service for maintenance or updates.
We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profit or loss of data. Our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid for the subscription during the last twelve months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law, and your rights under consumer legislation are unaffected.
12. Apple's role
Matly is downloaded from the App Store, and it is worth stating clearly what that means:
- This agreement is between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple is not a party to these terms.
- The licence to use the app is subject to Apple's standard end-user licence terms (Apple Standard EULA) to the extent they are not superseded by these terms.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and for all support. If you have a problem, contact us at support.matly@gmail.com. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for Matly.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app — product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, or claims of infringement of a third party's rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
13. If we close your account
We may suspend or close an account used in breach of these terms, or where we are required to by law. We will notify you in advance where possible. If you have paid for a period you were unable to use because of a suspension that was not your fault, we will refund the remaining part.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the service changes or new legal requirements arise. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you continue to use Matly afterwards, you accept the new terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
Swedish law governs these terms. If you are unhappy we would like to resolve it directly first — write to support.matly@gmail.com. If we cannot agree, as a consumer you may turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) or to the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr. A dispute may also be heard by a general court.
